Mandated Health Screenings

Keeping your child healthy is essential to their educational success.  The Pennsylvania Public School Code requires specific health screenings, based on grade level, to all students in Pennsylvania. These are considered screenings and are not to be a substitute for regular checkups with a pediatrician. School nurses perform the following health screenings:

• Height and Weight Screenings → K-12

• Vision Screenings → K-12

• Hearing Screenings → Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 7th, and 11th grade

• Physical Examinations → Kindergarten or upon enrollment, 6th and 11th grade

• Scoliosis Screening → 6th and 7th grade

• Dental Examinations → Kindergarten or upon enrollment, 3rd and 7th grade
